A memory jar is beautifully simple: a decorated jar where you drop notes throughout the year capturing funny moments, milestones, and everyday joy. Then on baby’s birthday, you empty it and read them all.
What You Need
- A large glass jar (a kilner jar works perfectly).
- Small pieces of coloured card or paper.
- A pen that lives next to the jar.
What to Write
- Funny things they said or did.
- Milestones (first word, first step, first proper tantrum).
- Things they love right now (their favourite toy, food, or song).
- Sweet moments between siblings or with pets.
- Ordinary moments that felt special.
Making It a Habit
Keep the jar somewhere visible — the kitchen counter works well. Aim for at least one note per week. By their birthday, you’ll have 50+ memories you would otherwise have forgotten.
