A fingerprint tree is a simple art project where each family member adds their fingerprints as “leaves” to a drawn tree. The result is beautiful and unique.
What You Need
- A canvas or thick paper (A3 or larger works best).
- Black pen or marker for the tree trunk and branches.
- Ink pads in autumn colours: green, orange, red, yellow, brown.
- A fine pen for writing names under prints.
How to Create It
- Draw or print a bare tree trunk and branches on the canvas.
- Each family member presses their thumb onto an ink pad and then onto a branch as a “leaf.”
- Write each person’s name under their print in small lettering.
- Include pets (paw prints work too!).
- Add the year at the base of the tree.
Making It Special
Create one at every family gathering. Christmas, reunions, milestone birthdays. Over years, the collection of trees shows who was there and how the family grew.
