Children produce artwork at an industrial scale. You can't keep everything, but the best pieces deserve to be preserved properly.
The Sorting System
- Display: The current best piece goes on the fridge or wall
- Keep: Truly special pieces go in the keepsake folder
- Recycle: Practice scribbles and duplicates
Sort weekly — if you let it pile up, you'll never do it.
Preservation Methods
- Portfolio folder: An A3 art portfolio keeps pieces flat, protected, and organised by year
- Digital archive: Photograph each keeper against a plain background with good light. Apps like Artkive organise them by date.
- Photo book: At the end of each year, compile photos of the best art into a printed book. One slim book vs. a box of crumpled paper.
Elevating the Best Pieces
- Frame it: Properly mount and frame a standout piece. Treat it like real art — because it is.
- Transfer to products: Print favourite artwork onto mugs, cushions, or tote bags. Grandparent gifts sorted.
- Create a gallery wall: A dedicated wall with frames that get updated as new masterpieces arrive.
